Hello

My name is Gina Luna Leão Josephs and I am a self taught American/Italian Artist, raised in Brazil, living with my beloved husband and adored cats, in the Liminal Space of Onset, (Historically Cape Cod) Massachussets, USA: my house is in a Realm so Magical that even the Post Office can't locate it!

I am passionate about colorful bright happy Art!

I paint sceneries of the beach, cats, Roses, faeries and people and I accept commissions for anything your heart desires!

My Story

Art has been with me since the first time I picked up a crayon.

My first drawings consisted of dragon heads and snakes in spirals (who knows why!).

It is a blessing to have had a mother that adored everything I created and that would tell everybody:"Gina is an Artist". She helped me realize what I was before I knew it myself.

I sold my first painting when I was four years old and that inspired me to keep working on my art.

I am self taught with the exception of one class in oil painting when I was 11 years old. This class was for all ages and it happened at the teacher's house where we would paint the afternoon away. I was so excited! They chose an image for me to paint of a street with houses on it. I remember wanting to paint a castle with rainbows and flowers instead. The teacher would come by every now and then and pick up the brush from our hands and make corrections to our paintings. I was bored, I hated it, I didn't learn anything and I didn't come back.

I didn't paint again for many many years.

In 1998 I started sculpting statues with air dry clay. It wasn't until I discovered polymer clay that I started creating Art Dolls and statues. and then little fairies. My Art Dolls, Statues and later on porcelain ball jointed dolls were published in prestigious Art Magazines in the USA and Canada. In January of 2010 I sculpted by hand in fine porcelain, the first modern ball jointed doll without the use of molds. I was brave!

While working with China paint on porcelain, I realized my painting skills had improved and that's when I started once again on  my painting journey.

My life is filled with love, cats, a garden of roses and the beauty of living by the ocean. I'm constantly inspired to create art and I accept commissions, so, please feel free to contact me.

Stay safe and happy,

Gina Josephs
